Meet The Honorable Timaka James-Jones
Timaka’s interest in the world of social justice came as her grandfather, Willie James, Sr, was an advocate for voter registration and voter participation. His push, along with others, is what propelled her father, Mr. Lawrence Browder and two others (Mrs. Sarita Randle McGee and Mr. Ernest White) to their victory to become the first African-Americans to serve as aldermen of the City of Belzoni, Mississippi. Thus, her political spark was lit!

Being a member and doing the community service work as the President of the Yazoo City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a graduate of the 2017 Tougaloo College’s Mississippi Black Leadership Institute, an active member of the Humphreys County NAACP, and, of course, serving in leadership in the Elk’s Hill Temple #783, Timaka believed that her service in her community had expanded wide enough to show her true desire to represent the area and provide a new 21st century vision.

We know that the 51st District deserves a greater voice to advocate for women’s rights, for small businesses, for the underserved, the LGBTQIA+ community, Mississippi educators, economic development, access to quality healthcare, for the “average Jan & Joe” and all that make up this extraordinary and historic area.

Timaka knows that this is the time and that this is her moment! Let us continue to allow Timaka to work for you!!! She is indeed FOCUSED ON THE FUTURE!
Let’s Vote Timaka James-Jones, Representative of House District 51!!!
